Southern Soul Survivors realizes that there is very little, if any, services provided to the homeless living on the Southside of Savannah, (from DeRenne Ave to 204 / 95) and we are hoping to be able to establish ourselves as a resource that provides clothing, hygiene products, and eventually shelter and shower locations so that those in need might receive help. At this time, we are awaiting the final determination from the Federal Government for our Federal 501 (c) 3. We already have our state non-profit status, however, it is very limited without the Federal Government backing. We cannot apply for Federal Grants until we have the Federal 501 (c) 3. All works that have been done up to this point have been privately funded, so every donation is desperately needed.
We hope to someday expand to include temporary housing for Women and Children (which Savannah currently doesn’t have). This housing will incorporate basic home economic educational services (bookkeeping, thrifty spending habits, money saving, etc.), resume writing classes, basic computer skills, and job interview skills. to those in need, so that they might improve their current situations.
We aim to help out multiple non-profit organizations in Savannah, GA by providing a simplified stop gap solution. While we know that we cannot completely resolve all issues, we do aim to provide some help to other charitable organizations whenever resources make it possible. Our main focus is on providing hygiene items and clothing to the homeless here on the Southside of Savannah, GA, however, when resources present themselves, we offer help to other organizations as well such as the Savannah Care Center.
